Works from Target and IKEA, February 24 to March 15, 2018
Even though it is avoided and negated, the need for homeostasis persists. Saturday, February 24, 2018 to Thursday, March 15, 2018, Counterpath is excited to host an exhibit of art from Target and IKEA. This often-striking superstore décor, then, might resituate aesthetic norms, however great their historical importance may be. All the same, these norms participate in these works’ magnetic fields.
Counterpath is also extending an open invitation to contribute to the show, by donating or loaning artwork purchased from IKEA or Target, representing an opportunity to break into the art market or develop a curatorial resume. Work will sell at a markup from store pricing of (only) 150%, proceeds returned to the art’s original owner, less the standard 50% (terms spelled out here).
An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 7pm, and we hope anyone who contributes will attend and represent their work. Mail-ins are also welcome. We are at 7935 East 14th Avenue in Denver, CO, 80220.
Any contributions should please be received by February 20, and each piece should include a c. 100 word description (to be used as wall text and catalog copy) of why it was purchased and what its meaning has been or should be!
