Reading: Nina Shope, Selah Saterstrom, J’Lyn Chapman, and Nazli Koca, Saturday, May 28, 2022, 7pm

Join us on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 7pm at Counterpath (7935 East 14th Ave. in Denver) for a book launch for Nina Shope’s new novel Asylum. Reading will be Nina Shope, as well as Selah Saterstrom, J’Lyn Chapman, and Nazli Koca. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments.

Nina Shope is the author of Hangings: Three Novellas, which won the Starcherone Book Prize in 2005. Asylum isher first full-length novel. The manuscript won the Dzanc Fiction Prize in 2020. Her fiction has appeared in journals and anthologies including Fourteen Hills, 3rd Bed, Open City, Sleeping Fish, and Salt Hill. She lives in Platt Park with her husband, author Christopher Narozny, and their corgi Brook.  

Selah Saterstrom is the author of five books: RancherIdeal Suggestions: Essays in Divinatory Poetics, Slab, The Meat and Spirit Plan, and The Pink Institution. She lives in Denver with her wife and daughter and is the director of Creative Writing at the University of Denver. 

J’Lyn Chapman is the author of Beastlife, Bear Stories, and the digital chapbooks A Thing of Shreds and Patches, and The Form Our Curiosity Takes. Her most recent book, To Limn / Lying In, won the PANK Books Creative Nonfiction Contest. Her creative work and essays can be found in Denver Quarterly, Conjunctions, and Black Warrior Review among other places. She teaches at Regis University and lives in Longmont, Colorado, with her spouse and two young children. 

Nazli Koca is a writer and poet who grew up on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. She’s lived in ten cities and five countries since she’s left the Mediterranean, including Istanbul, Berlin, and New York. At times her work crossed borders before she did, appearing in journals in Germany, Ireland, and the US. She currently lives in Denver, where she continues to read and write about disorientation as a PhD student at the University of Denver. Her first novel, The Applicant, is forthcoming from Grove/Atlantic in February 2023.
