Join us on Friday, October 21, 2023, at 7pm at Counterpath (7935 East 14th Ave. in Denver) for a reading by Toby Altman, Jennifer Soong, Emily Barton Altman, and Samuel Rafael Barber. Free and open to the public.

Toby Altman is the author of Jewel Box (Essay Press, 2025), Discipline Park (Wendy’s Subway, 2023), and Arcadia, Indiana (Plays Inverse, 2017). He has held fellowships from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Study in the Fine Arts, MacDowell, and the National Endowment for the Arts, where he was a 2021 Poetry Fellow. He teaches at Beloit College.

Jennifer Soong is the author of several works of poetry, including Suede Mantis / Soft Rage (Black Sun Lit), Near, At (Futurepoem), and three forthcoming projects: full-length collection Comeback Death (Krupskaya Books) and chapbooks Hand Hiding Hand (Face Press) and Natural Attachments (Hiding Press). Additionally, she is completing a critical book on poetry and forgetting for the University of Chicago Press. 

Emily Barton Altman is the author of two chapbooks, “Bathymetry” (Present Tense Pamphlets, 2016), and “Alice Hangs Her Map” (dancing girl press, 2019). Recent poems are forthcoming or appear in The Spectacle, Second FactoryQuarterly West, and elsewhere. She holds an MFA from NYU and a PhD from the University of Denver. Photo by Chelsey Farnum.

Samuel Rafael Barber is 0.00000001253133% of the population, a Chicano from South Texas, and the author of the chapbook Thousands of Shredded Scraps of Paper Located across Five Landfills, That if Pieced Together Form a Message (The Cupboard, 2019). A PhD candidate in English and Literary Arts at the University of Denver, his fiction has appeared in DIAGRAM, Normal School, Passages North, Puerto del Sol, Quarterly West, Shenandoah, Southwest Review, Tampa Review, and elsewhere. According to life expectancy tables, he will live another 51.2 years.
