Residency: Poupeh Missaghi and Mollie Hosmer-Dillard, May 15, 2023, to May 27, 2023

From May 15 to May 29, 2023, Counterpath is honored to have in residence Poupeh Missaghi and Mollie Hosmer-Dillard (of Ashes Collective). This will be an artistic collaboration with the Counterpath community. Community members are invited to take part in a multi-vocal painting with a literary spin. The residents will provide all supplies, and the event is for any and all—no age limits and no experience required.

Drop-in hours where people can come participate will be during the Counterpath food bank on Friday, May 19, and Friday, May 26, 5-6pm each day, as well as during the Saturday open hours of the Counterpath free bookstore, 4-6pm on Saturday May 20 and Saturday May 26.

A final gathering and group event will take place on Saturday, May 27, 11am-1pm.

Mollie Hosmer-Dillard is a painter and arts educator. She holds a BA from Oberlin College and an MFA from Indiana University. Mollie has had solo exhibitions in New York, Berlin, Salt Lake City, and Finland. She currently teaches at Denver University, and is also the staff writer for the Education Justice Project at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Poupeh Missaghi is an Assistant Professor in Literary Arts and Studies at the English Department of the University of Denver. She is a creative writer, scholar, editor, and translator (between English and Persian). Her debut novel trans(re)lating house one was published in 2020 (Coffee House Press) and her translation of Nasim Marashi’s novel I’ll Be Strong for You in 2021 (Astra House). Her second book Sound Museum is forthcoming in 2024 (Coffee House Press). She has a PhD in English and Literary Arts from the University of Denver; an MA in Creative Writing from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD; and an MA in Translation Studies and a BA in Translation Practice from Azad University, Tehran. She also teaches at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, and Pacific Northwest College of Arts, Portland, OR, as well as Lighthouse Writers Workshop, Denver. .
